- Lots of different jobs to be done today!
Time
to put the leading edge and fuel tank back on to check alignment
now the drilling is done. The fuel tank skin could then be
match drilled to the ribs, and #19 drill used to open up the holes
for the joint plate. The fuel tank attaches with #8 screws
here. Very pleased with the fit; and so with a sigh it all
comes back off again !!!!!!

The baffle plate could then be match drilled to the
ribs (the ones I could not get to when installed) and the screw
holes along the aft edge of the skin were opened up to #19 with a
block of wood to give support. Stiffeners came next (had
plenty of practise with these on the tail) and Bernard and I soon
cracked into the old routine ! Last picture shows them
attached in the right places.

I was dreading the next bit, take a large chunk of
aluminium angle and change it into a fuel tank attach bracket.
Well I made a start using the bench saw (glad I have this) as it
helps to get the rough shape quickly, and then its a matter of
filing ... filing and more filing.
